The “Akka Pade” (all women force) formed by the women and child welfare department in coordination with the home department to extend helping hands to women, minor girls, and school-going children under distressed situations was launched in Yadgir recently.

Formally launching ‘Akka Pade’, Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar said that the force would help women, minor girls, and especially girl students from atrocities and other crimes, including sexual abuse.

“The Akka Pade, with the staff of women and child welfare and the police department, will patrol the areas, including school areas, bus stands, railway station areas, and other public places with a vehicle to attend to any problems and ensure women’s safety,” he said.

The general public, women, and anybody in a distressed situation may call 181 (women helpline), 1098 (child helpline), and 112 (police emergency helpline) for immediate help.

Apart from this, the Akka Pade would alert the nearest police station on any crime and would hold sensitise the children about misbehaviour, eve teasing, child labor, offenses under the POCSO Act, human trafficking, and other illegal activities, the DC said.

Mariyappa, civil judge and member secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, said that Akka Pade should patrol in sensitive areas and immediately attend to the aggrieved women and children. He said that Akka Pade should focus more on cyber crimes and explain the importance of calling helpline numbers 1098, 181, and 112 against any crime.

Dharanesh, Additional Superintendent of Police; Tippanna Siarasagi, Deputy Director of Women and Child Welfare Department; S.S. Channabasappa, Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department, and others were present.
