Tamil Nadu Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ma. Subramanian on Friday (December 26, 2025) issued job regularisation orders to 169 nurses working on a contractual basis.

Speaking to reporters, the Minister said job regularisation orders for 831 more contract nurses would be issued before the Pongal festival. He also released a seniority list for 15,645 nurses. The seniority list was first issued in 2004, and after a gap of 21 years, it has now been released again with additional time provided for another 4,000 nurses to be included, he said.

The State government would soon issue an order extending the benefit of one year of paid maternity leave to nurses recruited through the Medical Services Recruitment Board.

The monthly salary of temporary nurses, which had earlier been ₹14,000, was increased to ₹18,000. Due to documentation issues, payments to over 400 nurses had been withheld earlier, but arrears would now be paid to them, he added.
