Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State president Palla Srinivasa Rao on Thursday (December 25, 2025) came down heavily on the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), warning that the public display of lethal weapons poses a serious threat to democratic norms and public safety.

Describing such acts as unlawful and deeply disturbing, he said cases should be registered under the Arms Act against those involved and called upon the authorities to initiate immediate and stringent legal action.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao was reacting to reports of YSRCP supporters allegedly taking out processions while wielding sharp weapons, including hunting sickles, on the occasion of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s birthday.

He termed the displays reprehensible and said they were clearly intended to instill fear among the public. Such actions, he warned, not only disrupt law and order but also dent investor confidence and adversely impact employment generation in the State.

Referring to placards reportedly carrying slogans such as “We will slash indiscriminately”, the TDP president said such statements exposed the disturbing mindset of YSRCP cadres. Open threats of violence, he asserted, have no place in a democratic society and cannot be justified under any circumstances.
