Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Pratap Shiva Kishore said that the police secured conviction of 51 accused in 41 cases through Dharma Nyaya Sahayak APP. Police monitored the status of the cases through Court Monitoring Cell (CMC), and the convictions were awarded in the last one year, the SP said.
Of the total, 29 accused were convicted for life (till death) in 21 cases, three were given conviction for 20 years in three cases and 11 accused were given conviction for 10 years in nine cases.
“We have been monitoring the status and trial of the cases in courts regularly. As the police produced the scientific and material evidence and the witnesses in courts, the accused got convictions,” Mr. Pratap Shiva Kishore told The Hindu on Sunday.
“CMC was launched one year ago and in many sensational cases the accused were jailed,” the SP said and appreciated the police, prosecution and the judicial officers for their efforts in clearing the cases and awarding convictions to the accused.
