HYDERABAD

Working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao criticised the Congress government in the State and HYDRAA for taking up demolition of houses of the poor in the name of encroachments on court holidays, despite clear directions from the High Court not to resort to such actions on court holidays.

At a party meeting with the Borabanda Division cadre in the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency here on Monday, he said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had sent HYDRAA to go on a demolition drive in Gajularamaram on Sunday and he might soon send the agency for demolition drive in the Borabanda Division.

He observed that a vote to Congress in the ensuing by-election to Jubilee Hills would be nothing but giving licence to the bulldozer government of the Congress to demolish houses of the poor families in the constituency. Stating that the HYDRAA had demolished BRS activist Sardar’s house, Mr. Rama Rao said he would take the responsibility to reconstruct his house demolished by the Congress government.

Accusing HYDRAA of acting only against the poor, the BRS leader sought to know why it was not acting against the rich despite them constructing palatial houses on government lands and in the full tank level (FTL) areas or their buffer zones of water bodies in and around the city. He cited the examples of Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Gaddam Vivekanand having their houses lying in the FRL/BZ areas of water bodies.

RRR-affected meet KTR

Separately, the people affected with the Regional Ring Road in Nalgonda, Suryapet, Siddipet and Sangareddy districts met Mr. Rama Rao and explained that they were being subjected to huge loss with the indiscriminate changes in the alignment. Accompanied by leaders, including G. Jagadish Reddy, they said they had voted the Congress to power following assurance from Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi that they would ensure that farmers would not be affected by the project.

However, after coming to power, the Congress government had changed the alignment to protect their posts by sending money to Delhi. The letter addressed by the affected farmers and people to Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy had also no impact.
