The CPI(M) will host a convention at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, to mark the conclusion of the rally on Sunday.
It launched a Statewide campaign against ‘anti-people laws’ in the country, as well as in the State, emphasising the need for a pro-people political front.
About 1,100 teams had been formed by the CPI(M), which travelled across the State, covering more than five lakh households between November 1 and December 15. The campaign was titled ‘Paryaya Rajakaaranakke Janadani Rally’.
Prakash K., secretary of the CPI(M), told The Hindu that the CPI(M) organised the campaign to apprise people of the anti-people laws prevailing in the country and the State and their impact on ordinary citizens.
“Although two national parties have different agendas, their law-making structures are similar and cater to the rich and capitalists. To oppose and counter such anti-people measures taken by ruling parties, we launched this campaign,” he said.
Members of the teams went door-to-door across the State, informing people about prevailing issues and pro-capitalistic laws across sectors. The topics covered ranged from unemployment and corruption to education, health, privatisation, and more. The teams also explained the need for reforms in agriculture, land and farmers’ rights, the ration system, unconstitutional laws, and irrigation systems.
While emphasising the need for reforms, the CPI(M) teams presented data to households and explained the severity of the issues, said Mr. Prakash.
