The Union of Dubbing Artists affiliated to the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) has accepted the resignation of senior dubbing artiste Bhagyalakshmi, who had stepped down from the body on December 9, 2025 in protest against the federation’s move to reinstate actor Dileep after he was acquitted by the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court in the actor rape case.

In a letter sent to her, union president Shoby Thilakan said the executive committee has accepted her resignation “with pain.”

“She has been the pride of the union. The resignation was accepted as she stuck to her decision to quit,” he said. A member of the executive committee, she has remained in the forefront of the union since its formation. She has worked for the welfare of its members till date, it said.

Ms. Bhagyalakshmi had alleged that FEFKA had failed to stand with the survivor. She had said the film bodies were “so quick” to initiate steps to reinstate Mr. Dileep since such discussions began immediately after the court acquitted him. She alleged that “it clearly showed that these organisations will never stand with the survivors.”

She had said her long-standing position of siding with the survivors would be termed “hollow” if she did not resign in protest against the move by film bodies, including FEFKA, to reinstate Dileep. She had also accused the leadership of the federation of “not trying to understand the pain” being suffered by the survivor. “They have never tried to either speak to her or console her,” she alleged.

She was referring to the discussions initiated by FEFKA, Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) and Kerala Film Producers’ Association to reinstate Mr. Dileep after he was acquitted in the case.
