A 71-year-old woman residing in Periya Nolambur was found murdered by a 65-year-old man on Sunday (December 14, 2025) night.
A senior official of the Avadi police Commissionerate said Mary was residing alone in her house in Periya Nolambur near Mogappair. On Sunday (December 14, 2025) the neighbours heard her pleas for help around 10 p.m. and when they went in, they found her unconscious. However, the residents found a senior citizen hiding inside the house. They caught him and alerted Nolambur police. The woman died within a few minutes.
The police officials identified the elderly stranger inside the house as Karamanai alias Ezhumalai, also from Nolambur. He had tried to rob gold jewellery from the elderly woman but as she resisted him, he had strangled her.
The police sent the body to Government Kilpauk Medical College hospital for post mortem.
