Amit Shah, U.S. Ambassador Gor discuss enhancing India-U.S. security cooperation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Thursday (June 18, 2026) held talks on further strengthening cooperation between India and the U.S.

Mr. Shah said in a statement on X, their meeting touched upon “the area of security, particularly in counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics.”

He also added that the government is “firmly committed to advancing the India–U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and ensuring that the people of both nations benefit from the bilateral relationship.”

Had a detailed discussion on further strengthening cooperation between India and the U.S. in the area of security, particularly in counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics.

In a related development, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer is scheduled to visit India next week to advance trade talks. During their recent meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership , according to the government.

Commenting on the meeting with Mr. Shah, Mr. Gor said that, they discussed on “collaboration to combat terrorism, shield our people from narcotics and illicit drugs, secure our borders, and jointly bring criminals to justice in both nations.”
