PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Friday urged Chief Minister Thambi M.K. Stalin to pass an order to immediately conduct caste-wise enumeration and provide internal reservations for Vanniyars in education and jobs, contending that it would only help the DMK in the upcoming Assembly election.

Speaking at a demonstration held in Chennai to press for caste-wise enumeration and reservation, Dr. Ramadoss appealed to the Chief Minister to ensure proportional representation based on the head count in each community. He added that the enumeration could be completed in one month.

The PMK leader said the 324 communities should be divided into six groups and provided reservations.

“The Chief Ministers before you failed to do it… Reservations have not been provided to all communities according to their strength. Step forward to do it and create history. I would be the first person to appreciate you,” he said.

Dr. Ramadoss said, “We are not protesting because we have no job. We are reflecting the cries and tribulations of the communities. There should be social justice.”

He claimed that the neighbouring states had provided appropriate reservations using proper data. “Why can’t that be done in Tamil Nadu as well? When the 324 communities in Tamil Nadu say they got reservations because of PMK’s protests, won’t the Honourable Chief Minister also get the credit for it? Wouldn’t Chief Minister Stalin be the first person to feel happy that communities are getting ahead of others in education and economic strata? Why is he refusing to do it? We tried our best… we can’t do better than this,” he added.
