A mandal surveyor and a chainman attached to the office of the Tahsildar, Secunderabad, were trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday while allegedly accepting a bribe to avoid action against a property notice issued to a complainant.

According to the ACB, the accused Kaluva Kiran Kumar, mandal surveyor, demanded a total bribe of ₹3 lakh, and accepted the first instalment of ₹1 lakh. The amount was taken through Mekala Bhaskar, chainman in the same office, on the assurance that no adverse action would be taken against the complainant’s property.

The ACB recovered the ₹1 lakh bribe from the possession of Bhaskar. Both of them were arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally.

The ACB has urged the public to report any demand for bribes by government officials via its 24-hour toll-free number: 1064, or through WhatsApp (9440446106) and social media platforms including Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) under ‘Telangana ACB’. The Bureau has assured that complainants’ identities will be kept confidential.
