The Kerala ASHA Health Workers’ Association (KAHWA) staged a dharna in front of the office of the District Programme Manager, National Health Mission at Thycaud here on Tuesday, demanding that the pending incentive arrears of ASHAs be cleared.
KAHWA leaders said that the wages of several ASHAs had been pending since August and that in Thiruvananthapuram, there was always a delay in disbursing wages. ASHAs in Thiruvananthapuram received their incentives many weeks after their counterparts in other districts had received theirs.
KAHWA ended the dharna after they received the assurance that they could have a meeting with the DPM and that all issues can be thrashed out.
The incentive arrears of August was deposited to the accounts of ASHAs on the same day.
