Minister for BC Welfare S. Savitha on Thursday said students from the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (MJPAPBCWREIS) who have excelled in Class 10 will be given coaching to appear for competitive exams like NEET and IIT from the first year of Intermediate education.

In a statement, the Minister said separate training centres will be set up for boys and girls. Coaching for boys will be provided at the Simhachalam MJP Gurukul School in Visakhapatnam, and for girls at the Tekulodu MJP Gurukul School in Sri Sathya Sai district. Training will be conducted by subject experts, and the programme will commence from the current academic year, the Minister informed, adding that additional NEET and IIT coaching centres will be established in the MJP institutions in the coming days.

Promotions cleared

Meanwhile, the long-pending promotions of employees working in MJP Gurukul institutions across the State have been cleared and a G.O. to this effect was released on Thursday. A total of 11 junior principals have been promoted to the posts of senior principals. The junior principals in MJP gurukul schools have been waiting for promotions for a long time.

Representatives of MJP Gurukulam Employees’ Associations had brought the issue of pending promotions to the attention of the Minister, explaining that the management of schools by in-charges were causing administrative difficulties. Responding to their plea, Ms. Savita instructed officials to take necessary action. Following her directions, MJP Gurukulam Secretary Madhavi Latha issued orders promoting 11 junior principals to senior principals positions.
