PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Wednesday said he would continue to be loyal to his father and party founder S. Ramadoss, but reiterated that the right to sign Forms A and B, along with the ‘Mango’ symbol, lies with him.

Speaking at a meeting of district secretaries of the party, he said he had learnt a lot by speaking to people from various sections of society during his 100-day padayatra, which concluded recently.

“The padayatra is over…but you have to follow up on the issues flagged by the people. The party should continue to stage protests in districts across the State. You have to protest today to secure the future of your party,” he said.

The PMK had a much better political agenda and traction with youngsters than the DMK, but there was a huge gap in booth-level tactics that needed to be bridged. The draft SIR of electoral rolls would be published. The booth-level workers should go door-to-door to verify the voters and see if their names had been left out, he said.

“We don’t concentrate enough at the booth level. During the election, the DMK focuses its energy on every booth. But we do everything right up until the election and fall short at the booth level during the election,” he said.

Dr. Anbumani urged the district secretaries not to work with a preconceived notion that certain communities wouldn’t vote for them. “The situation has changed these days. Go and ask everyone to vote for the PMK,” Dr. Anbumani said.
