A 60-year-old driver, D. Narayana Raju, saved the lives of 40 engineering students, through his presence of mind moments before he suffered a cardiac arrest while driving on Monday.

Raju, was driving the college bus of the Godavari Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET-Rajamahendravaram), along the national highway in Dr.B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district with 40 students onboard. He suffered a cardiac arrest while at the wheel. Realising something was wrong, Raju managed to steer the vehicle to the roadside and parked it before collapsing on the steering wheel.

The students onboard noticed his collapsed body, later he was confirmed dead, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest as reported by the GIET media wing.

Narayana Raju was a native of Madiki village in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. The police have registered a case and investigation is on.
