The Kdapa police on Friday (May 15, 2026) issued a stern warning against sharing communally sensitive posts on social media in the wake of the recent incident at Almaspet Circle in Kadapa city.

Superintendent of Police Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke said that social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, X/Twitter and Instagram were being used by certain miscreants to spread rumours, fake news, morphed videos to provoke religious sentiments and disturb public harmony.

Calling it a ‘final warning’, he said that the district police department’s cyber crime cell was maintaining a 24×7 vigil on all such platforms and would take action against such individuals under non-bailable sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Information Technology Act for promoting enmity between different groups.
