Hyderabad District Collector Harichandana Dasari has issued orders declaring paid holidays for offices and institutions in connection with the bye-election to the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency.

According to the order issued on November 7, paid holidays have been declared on the day before polling (November 10), the day of polling (November 11), and the day of counting of votes (November 14) for all offices and institutions where polling stations and the counting centre are established for the byelection.

Speaking to The Hindu, the Collector said that the paid holiday covers government schools and offices that will be used as polling stations or counting centres within the Jubilee Hills constituency. “It’s mostly for the schools because the teachers will be on election duty, and the school or office buildings will be used for polling. The paid holiday applies to all government offices in that jurisdiction, as some staff will also be voters,” she explained.

The Collector further clarified bars will remain closed and food distribution and similar activities near polling stations will not be allowed.

All heads of departments and institutions where polling stations and the counting centre are established have been instructed to take necessary action and implement the orders without deviation.
