The U.S. Consulate in Hyderabad will have a dedicated rest facility for Telangana State Special Police (TSSP) personnel deployed at the consulate. The facility is being built by Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL).

The foundation stone for the facility being built entirely with MEIL’s funds was laid by MEIL Director P. Sudha Reddy at the site opposite the U.S. Consulate, where land has been allotted by the government.

Additional Director General of Police (Battalions) Sanjay Kumar Jain, Madhapur DCP Rithiraj, 8th Battalion Commandant M. Ramakrishna, Assistant Commandants M. Pardhasaradhi Reddy and S. Rambabu, as well as U.S. Consulate security officials were present.

The new prefabricated barrack, designed to accommodate up to 50 police personnel, includes all necessary amenities for the police to rest and refresh between their shifts.

Ms Sudha Reddy said, despite their invaluable service, police personnel often do not receive the recognition they deserve, and this was a small gesture from MEIL for their services.

Madhapur DCP Rithiraj said that the police work under highly demanding conditions, and she appreciated MEIL’s initiative. Currently, the TSSP personnel has deployed 24 officers on each shift to guard the U.S. Consulate.

The U.S. Consulate in Nanakramguda, Hyderabad, is one of the largest in South Asia, handling nearly 3,500 visa applications daily and serving applicants from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha.
