The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has said it will launch a protest outside the chamber of the Principal, Government Medical College, Kozhikode, from April 27 if no action is taken against two faculty members in the Department of Psychiatry, who have been accused of mentally harassing postgraduate (PG) doctors.

The SFI leaders on Saturday (April 25, 2026) took out a march around the campus and raised slogans against the lack of action on the part of the authorities. According to the students, all 12 PG doctors in the department have lodged a complaint with the Principal against the two women faculty members, who, they said, had been humiliating them even in front of patients and medical and non-medical staff. PG doctors are under tremendous stress because of this, and it is affecting their personal and professional lives. One of the doctors said that faculty members often threaten to fail them in exams as well.

In a letter to the Principal, K.P. Sidharth, chairperson of the students’ union, pointed out that the reports of harassment raised significant ethical and institutional concerns that warranted immediate attention. The Kerala Medical Post Graduate Association too has sought action on the complaint.
