The Kerala University has informed the High Court that the suspension of the university’s Registrar following the row over displaying a photo of Bharata Mata on stage at an event in its Senate Hall, will be included as an item in its Syndicate meeting that is scheduled for November 1.

The submission was made when a Bench of Justice V.G. Arun was hearing a plea by members of the university’s Syndicate, seeking a direction to the Vice-Chancellor to convene a meeting of the Syndicate to adhere to an earlier direction of the HC.

They alleged that the meeting was being deliberately delayed to avoid a discussion on the suspension of the Registrar, K.S. Anilkumar. They added that the matter was not included even in the notice for the upcoming meeting, and raised the concern that the matter may again be omitted from being considered on November 1.

The court held that it was confident all participants at the meeting would maintain decorum and also discharge their duties responsibly.
