734 acres institutional lands resumed and transferred to MRDCL

In a major step towards the Musi River Development project, the government has issued orders on Monday, transferring institutional lands to the extent of 734 acres along the Easa (Esi) river to the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation.

The lands that have been resumed from various institutions are located at Himayathsagar, Kismathpur Villages of Gandipet Mandal, Premavathipet, Budvel Villages of Rajendranagar Mandal and Kothwalguda Village of Shamshabad Mandal in Rangareddy district.

Of the resumed lands, 128.39 acres was under the Telangana State Engineering Research Laboratory, and 219.09 acres under the Water and Land Management Training and Research Institute (WALAMTARI). A total 41.27 acres was resumed from Indian Institute of Public Health, 99.05 acres directly from Extension Training Centre (VDOTC) and 10.32 acres from Bankers Institute of Rural and Entrepreneurship Development. A total 78.02 acres was resumed indirectly from ETC, which had been under the control of different institutions including Reddy Hostel and IAS Study Circle for STs and Telangana State Institute of Panchayat Raj & Rural Development.

Land to the extent of 71.23 acres was alienated also from HMDA Eco Park and 31.3 acres from Tourism department. A total 11.32 acres of open land and 52 acres of land covered in court cases too has been transferred to the MRDCL.

Institutions losing land have been allotted alternative land at HMDA layout at Shamshabad and in Future City, though far less in extent than the land resumed, with the exception of Reddy Hostel, which has been allotted 30 acres in lieu of 15 acres resumed by the government.
