1 killed, 18 injured as tourist bus overturns on MC Road in Kerala’s Kottayam

A tourist bus overturned on MC Road at Kuruvilangad in Kottayam district of Kerala, killing one person and injuring 18 others in the early hours of Monday (October 27, 2025).

The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Sindhya (45), a native of Iritty in Kannur.

The bus, travelling from Thiruvananthapuram to Iritty, overturned while negotiating a curve near the church at Cheenkalla around 2 am. A total of 49 people were onboard at the time.

The police said the condition of four persons who were injured was critical. The injured were rushed to Kottayam Medical College Hospital (MCH) and nearby private hospitals for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident.

Those injured critically have been shifted to the Kottayam MCH, while the rest are undergoing treatment at a private hospital at Monippally.
