Guntur Municipal Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu has directed town planning officials to remove all encroachments on footpaths along major city roads on a war footing and to immediately clear and transport the debris

He emphasized that the encroachments blocking rainwater flow must be cleared to ensure flow of water into the city’s drainage system without stagnation on roads.

Cyclone Montha updates on October 27, 2025

In view of the heavy rains and strong winds forecast on account of impending Montha cyclone, the Commissioner instructed officials on Monday (October 27, 2025) to dismantle weak hoardings and temporary structures that may pose a risk to public. He also asked the secretaries to shift residents of old and dilapidated buildings to rehabilitation centers or safer locations without delay.

Further, Mr. Srinivasulu ordered the use of mechanised earth movers to desilt major drains, including Mondigetu, Peekalavagu, Ambedkar Vagu, and other key stormwater channels, to prevent flooding.

He also directed engineering officials to ensure adequate food, drinking water, and basic amenities at all rehabilitation centers established across the city.
