Man held on charge of murder bid

A 50-year-old man was arrested by Chevayur police on Sunday (October 26, 2025) for allegedly attempting to murder his 76-year-old mother. The accused was identified as K.V. Saleel Kumar. Police said the man attacked his mother on October 24, 2025, over property disputes. He reportedly assaulted her to demand that her house and other properties, as well as her bank savings, be registered in his name. The man was taken into custody from Vengeri following a written complaint submitted by the elderly woman. The police reached the scene after a neighbour rescued the injured woman and alerted them.
