VIZIANAGARAM

Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu on Thursday said that the Union government would take steps to bring back the eight fishermen who had been caught by the Bangladesh Coast Guard a couple of days ago after they “unknowingly crossed” the international waters while fishing.

The fishermen hailed from Pusapatirega and Bhogapuram mandals of Vizianagaram district.

Vizianagaram district Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy and officials of the Fisheries Department brought the issue to the notice of the government. Mr. Rammohan Naidu spoke to Union Minister for External Affairs S. Jaishankar, and requested him to use his good offices in securing the early release of the fishermen.

Meanwhile, the families of the fishermen urged MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas to ensure the safety of their dear ones and their early release.
