The Kerala government has sanctioned ₹90 crore for the construction of a permanent academic and administrative complex for Sreenarayanaguru Open University (SGOU).

According to Higher Education Minister Roji M. John, the university, which began functioning in 2020 and is presently operating from rented premises in Kollam, will soon have its own state-of-the-art four-storey campus spread across 16,864 square metres.

The new complex will feature modern classrooms, a high-tech office system, advanced electrical installations, fire safety infrastructure and comprehensive water supply facilities.

“The new campus will not only fulfil the long-standing aspiration of the university, but also strengthen Kerala’s higher education ecosystem by creating a modern academic environment for thousands of learners,” Mr. John said.

The decision, the Minister said, reflects the government’s commitment to modernising the higher education sector and ensuring high-quality facilities for students and faculty.
