Former AIADMK Minister and Gobichettipalayam MLA K.A. Sengottaiyan on Wednesday (September 10, 2025) described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as one of the foremost leaders in the world and hailed Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the “Iron Man of India.”

Extending his greetings to C.P. Radhakrishnan on being elected Vice-President of India, Mr. Sengottaiyan, in a statement, said the nomination was a matter of pride for Tamil Nadu. He recalled that the proposal was put forward by Mr. Shah and endorsed under the leadership of Mr. Modi. The statement also noted that Mr. Radhakrishnan had earned the affection of former Chief Ministers M.G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa.

Mr. Sengottaiyan said the elevation of Mr. Radhakrishnan to the high constitutional post brought honour not only to the State but also to the nation. “I convey my heartfelt wishes to him and hope his service will further strengthen the country,” he said.

It may be recalled that Mr. Sengottaiyan was stripped of his organisational responsibilities after he set a 10-day deadline for AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami to initiate talks for reinstating expelled leaders. On Monday (September 8), he met Mr. Amit Shah in New Delhi and emphasised the need to unify and strengthen the party by bringing back expelled functionaries.
