The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to remove residential land at Pulladigunta village in Guntur district from the prohibited property list, paving the way for 201 families to secure full ownership rights after nearly a century.

According to the Revenue department, the settlement at Pulladigunta, a hamlet of Karnepadu revenue village in Vatticherukuru mandal, had remained classified as ‘Thopu Poramboke’, preventing residents from obtaining legal rights over their house sites despite living there for generations. The families have long been paying property taxes, electricity bills and exercising their voting rights.

Following representations from villagers, Revenue, Registration and Stamps Minister Anagani Satya Prasad placed the issue before Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. A resurvey confirmed that houses and internal roads occupy 8.51 acres, while a government Urdu school, a Ramalayam, a mosque and 1.27 acres of vacant land are also located in the area.

Based on recommendations from district officials, the State Cabinet recently approved reclassifying the residential portion as village land and removing it from the prohibited list, while retaining the vacant government land and public institution sites under government control. Formal orders are expected within the next couple of days.

The Minister said that the coalition government would continue resolving similar long-pending revenue issues, citing earlier settlements in Shettipalli, Vatticherukuru and Kungundi villages that restored property rights to thousands of residents.
