The Lokayukta has instructed all elected members of the Belagavi City Corporation, particularly those who have not submitted their records yet, to file their assets details.

A letter by the vigilance body sent to the corporation says that 50 of the 58 members have submitted their documents, while eight are pending. All documents should be submitted by June 30.

Officials said that copies of the letter, along with a request to submit all relevant documents about assets, have been sent to each member.

As per rule, all elected members are required to declare their assets at the start of every financial year. The disclosures include details related to land holdings, houses, commercial property, bank deposits, investments, vehicles, loans and other financial transactions.

The failure to furnish details or attempts to suppress information can attract action under relevant provisions.
