The Hyderabad city police has registered 563 cases and seized narcotics worth ₹22.17 crore in a year-long crackdown on the drug network in the city, while also stepping up efforts to identify and rehabilitate drug consumers.
The special operation, conducted between June 2025 and June 2026 by Law and Order teams and the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), focused on surveillance, disrupting supply networks and helping those struggling with addiction.
The Jubilee Hills Zone recorded the highest number of cases at 116, followed by Secunderabad with 99, Golconda with 95 and Charminar with 90. Rajendranagar recorded 84 cases, while Khairatabad and Shamshabad recorded 49 and 30 cases respectively.
Marijuana accounted for the largest share of the seizures, with police confiscating 2,513 kg worth ₹12.56 crore. The seizures also included 55.3 litres of hash oil valued at ₹6.91 crore, 1,626 grams of MDMA worth ₹1.62 crore, 129 grams of cocaine worth ₹64.50 lakh, 120 grams of heroin worth ₹24 lakh, 570 LSD blots valued at ₹17.10 lakh and 220 grams of opium worth ₹1.25 lakh.
The police have also intensified action against local drug distribution hubs. In a recent Operation Thunderbolt in Mangar Basti under Habibnagar police station limits, more than 1,100 personnel conducted a cordon-and-search operation and seized marijuana and illicit liquor.
The Hyderabad Police are also working with the NCB, DRI and EAGLE Force to dismantle drug networks.
As part of efforts to identify drug consumers, 1,550 suspected offenders and users have undergone on-field drug diagnostic tests. Of them, 421 tested positive. The police said those who tested positive were being referred to Gandhi Hospital, the Erragadda Institute of Mental Health and private rehabilitation centres for treatment and counselling.
