A devastating fire incident that broke out in a goat shed in Boral village, Aurad taluk of Bidar district, on Tuesday evening killed 45 goats and a 62-year-old man.

The deceased man has been identified as Shankar Irragond Metre, a resident of Boral village.

He had set up the goat shed on his farmland located on the outskirts of the village.

As part of his regular goat-rearing routine, Shankar brought the animals into the shed and gone to sleep inside the enclosure.

Tragically, a fire broke out in the evening, quickly spreading and engulfing the structure. All 45 goats inside were trapped and perished in the blaze, while Shankar, who was asleep, suffered fatal burns.

The villagers immediately alerted the Fire and Emergency Services personnel in Aurad town.

However, by the time fire tenders reached the site, the flames had already consumed the shed completely, resulting in extensive damage to property and livestock.

According to police sources, the shed contained only solar lamps and no electrical wiring. The reason for the devastating fire is yet to be ascertained.

Aurad Police and officials from the departments concerned visited the spot for investigation.
