Three persons, including an ambulance driver, were killed and 24 others were injured when a speeding construction vehicle crashed into a mini truck on the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, near Kalkere village in Bangarpet on Monday.

The mini truck, belonging to a catering company carrying around 22 staff, was returning from a programme. It toppled on the ambulance parked nearby, killing the driver on the spot. The mini truck driver carrying the catering staff, who was also killed, was identified as Shivaraju, while the identity of the third deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Passers-by along with the police shifted the injured to the different hospitals in Kolar, KGF and Bangarpet. The deceased ambulance driver has been identified as Vikrampal, who had parked the vehicle on routine duty.

Traffic on the busy road was disrupted for some time and the police struggled to shift the damaged vehicles to side to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
