24,000 candidates have enroled for Mysuru’s Mega Job Fair on Oct. 17: Karnataka Minister

As many as 24,000 candidates have registered to participate in the Mysuru Divisional Mega Job Fair scheduled to be held at Maharaja’s College Grounds here on October 17.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood said that 221 companies have confirmed their participation in the fair, offering around 45,000 job vacancies across multiple sectors.

He appealed to job seekers to make the best use of the opportunity. “Candidates who have not registered online can register at the venue on the day of the fair,” Dr. Patil said. Interested candidates may also register through the website https://udyogamela.ksdckarnataka.com.

The Minister said that details of candidates who do not get placed in the fair will be collected, and such candidates will be offered skill development training to help them secure jobs in the future.

Referring to the Yuvanidhi Plus scheme, Dr. Patil said that registered beneficiaries of the Yuvanidhi unemployment allowance are also being provided skill training. “There is a misconception that joining skill training makes one ineligible for the Yuvanidhi benefit. The allowance will continue for two years or until the beneficiary finds employment — whichever is earlier,” he clarified.

Elaborating on the State’s employment initiatives, Dr. Patil said six job fairs held earlier at taluk and district levels had helped 12,966 candidates secure jobs, while another 1,177 candidates were placed through three campus job fairs organised in collaboration with colleges.

“There are opportunities for candidates with both minimum and higher educational qualifications,” the Minister said, urging all registered Yuvanidhi beneficiaries to participate in the event.

So far, over 3 lakh young people across the State, including 43,500 from the Mysuru division, have registered under the Yuvanidhi scheme. “Job fairs not only connect job seekers and employers directly, but also help the candidates understand the current skill requirements in the industry,” Dr. Patil opined.

Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) Chairperson Kanta Nayak, Department Secretary Manoj Kumar Meena, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikant Reddy, and KSDC Managing Director M.N. Nagaraj were present.
