A 24-year-old college faculty was killed in a two-wheeler accident in Idukki. The deceased has been identified as Joyce P. Shibu, a resident of Murukkady in Kumily. According to the police, the incident occurred on Thursday around 8.15 a.m. at Companypady, near Puliyanmala, on the Thodupuzha-Puliyanmala State Highway.

As Joyce’s two-wheeler collided with an auto-rickshaw heading from Puliyanmala towards Kattappana, he fell on the road as a result of the impact. At the time, a lorry approaching from the opposite direction ran over him. The seriously injured youth was rushed to a private hospital in Kattappana, but his life could not be saved. Joyce, an alumnus of Christ College in Puliyanmala, was serving as a BBA faculty member in the institution. After the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to relatives.
