The newly appointed Zonal Commissioners of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took charge of the posts on Friday (December 26, 2025). Telangana Government on Thursday issued orders approving re-organisation of the corporation into 12 Zones and 60 Circles. The Corporation earlier had six Zones and 30 Circles. The GHMC also announced completion of delimitation of 300 Wards.
The government also took up rejig of IAS officers on Thursday transferring and giving them new postings — including of the new zones.

Merger of 27 ULBs into GHMC
This follows the ward delimitation exercise after the merger of 27 Urban Local Bodies (ULB) — seven municipal corporations and 20 municipalities — with the Corporation.

Six zones earlier
The existing six zones are Secunderabad, Charminar, Kukatpally, Khairatabad, LB. Nagar and Serilingampally. The six new Zones are Uppal, Quthbullapur, Malkajgiri, Shamshabad, Golconda and Rajendranagar.

The new Zonal offices were set up at Circle offices. The Golconda Zonal Commissioner office was arranged at Abids. While phone numbers of the 12 Zonal Commissioners were released to the Media, the new zones or contact numbers of the officers did not reflect in the GHCM website till Friday early afternoon at least.
