Andhra Pradesh government has spent ₹1.49 lakh crore on public welfare and ₹1.34 lakh crore on development activities across the State during its two-year tenure, Social Welfare Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy said on Friday.
Participating in the ‘Two Years of Trust, Development and Welfare’ (Rendella Nammakam, Abhivruddhi, Sankshemam) programme at Paletipadu village in Jarugumalli mandal of Prakasam district, Mr. Swamy said the government was benefiting all sections of society through schemes such as Talliki Vandanam, Annadata Sukhibhava and NTR Bharosa.
The government had spent ₹19,100 crore on the welfare of Scheduled Castes, benefiting 43 lakh people, ₹5,730 crore on Scheduled Tribes, benefiting nine lakh people, ₹32,534 crore on Backward Classes, benefiting 1.18 crore people, and ₹4,856 crore on minorities, benefiting more than 17 lakh people, he said.
The State had attracted investments exceeding ₹23 lakh crore during the past two years, he said. The government had saved ₹8,269 crore through loan rescheduling, released ₹30,849 crore in employee dues and cleared pending bills worth ₹19,357 crore from the previous government, he said.
The government had also revived 86 Central schemes by clearing ₹8,695 crore in pending dues, Mr. Swamy said, alleging that the schemes had been stalled during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) regime. After the Alliance government assumed office, the State had secured ₹45,138 crore from the Centre, he claimed.
Mr. Swamy said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had put the State on the path of development through fiscal discipline.
Criticising the YSRCP government, he alleged that its five-year rule had been marked by “hatred and destruction”. No new roads were laid and no major projects or industries were brought in during the period, he alleged.
In contrast, the present government had constructed 3,800 km of roads in two years and was developing pothole-free highways, he said.
