The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) staged a protest on Tuesday, accusing the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh of gross negligence in cow protection and mismanagement of temples.

The YSRCP also took strong exception to the reported insult to Rani Sadasivamurthy, the Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Veda Vignana Peetham, removing him on what he termed unjust and baseless grounds.

The YSRCP also took objection to the reported insult to Rani Sadasivamurthy, Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Veda Vignana Peetham, removing him on what he termed unjust and baseless grounds.

YSRCP former MLA Malladi Vishnu said the recent seizure of beef in Visakhapatnam and the controversies in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), from cattle deaths in goshalas to proposals of handing over temple administration to private agencies,  exposed the NDA government’s failure to safeguard Hindu Dharma, temple assets and ensure the welfare of cows.

Mr. Vishnu condemned the TTD Trust Board for reportedly insulting Mr. Sadasivamurthy. He criticised the alleged irregularities in the recruitment of priests for the 700 parayanadar posts sanctioned during the previous YSRCP government, claiming qualified local Vedic scholars were ignored in favour of candidates from outside Andhra Pradesh.

YSRCP leader Velampalli Srinivas said that during the previous tenure of the TDP, several temples in Vijayawada were demolished, adding that those were rebuilt only after the YSRCP assumed the office.

He said that the Kanaka Durga temple had received ₹70 crore for development under the YSRCP government, and questioned whether N. Chandrababu Naidu had funded even a single temple during his 14 years as the Chief Minister.

He dared the coalition government to list even one action taken in the last 17 months for the protection of Hindu Dharma.

YSRCP NTR district president Devineni Avinash accused the TDP-led coalition of shielding a mafia involved in cow slaughter and illegal export of beef.

He questioned the inaction of BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, and TTD Trust Board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy.
