The Kumbala police have registered a case against social media influencer and YouTuber S.R. Dhanya, 28, of Perumbala, for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and attempting to evade a vehicle inspection on National Highway 66.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 2 a.m. on July 1 during a routine vehicle inspection at Anangoor on NH 66. The police said they noticed a car parked haphazardly in the middle of the highway. When officers approached to inspect the vehicle, the driver allegedly sped away without stopping in an attempt to evade the inspection.

The vehicle was allegedly driven in a manner that endangered the lives of other road users. Following a chase, the police intercepted the car near Bhagavathi Nagar at Bandiyod. The police said Dhanya was under the influence of alcohol, and a breathalyser test confirmed it.

The vehicle was subsequently seized after the police issued a notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Kumbala police have registered a case under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 132(1), 179 and 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
