By changing the name and function of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the National Democratic Alliance government in the Centre has ensured that it would not guarantee employment to anyone, Youth Congress State president O.J. Janeesh has said.

Mr. Janeesh was addressing the media on the sidelines of a rally organised by the Youth Congress here on Monday afternoon. He said that the rally was against the Central government for destroying the employment guarantee scheme implemented by the United Progressive Alliance government.

The Youth Congress slammed the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front government in the State, “which failed to take any action against the party functionaries who were culprits in the Sabarimala gold theft case.”
