Earlier this year, on February 15, Priyank Kharge stated in Bengaluru that IT and BT companies are hesitating to invest in the Mangaluru-Udupi-Manipal region owing to communal tensions in coastal Karnataka.

Taking a dig at Priyank Kharge, Minister for IT, BT, RDPR and Electronics, for Kalaburgi district scoring the last rank in the State in the SSLC examination, Y. Bharat Shetty, Mangaluru City North MLA, said on Thursday that the Minister who always criticises Dakshina Kannada should make efforts to improve education system in his home district.

Dr. Shetty said that Kalaburagi district, of which Mr. Kharge is the in-charge Minister, should make efforts to uplift his district in many sectors. Dakshina Kannada is a forward district in terms of education, health, and infrastructure.

The Minister should focus on improving his district instead of criticising Dakshina Kannada, the MLA said in a statement.
