Why a UN committee asked India to act against hate speech and hate crimes | Explained

The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (UNCERD) has raised concerns over hate speech, hate crimes, citizenship policies, and the treatment of minorities in India. The committee made several recommendations, while the Indian government rejected what it called “sweeping generalisations” in the findings.
