West Bengal is witnessing an intense battle between Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress and the BJP. The Congress and Left Front are also in the fray. Elections were held in two phases, marred by sporadic violence. The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls became a flashpoint between the Election Commission and Trinamool Congress, which accused the former of favouring the BJP.
