Enthused by the victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alliance in the Bihar Assembly polls, the West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership on Friday (November 14, 2025) said that the party will repeat its performance in the State Assembly polls scheduled in 2026.
A section of BJP MLAs led by Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari distributed sweets outside the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Mr. Adhikari told media persons that elections in Bihar were held after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
“In West Bengal also elections will be held after SIR, and with a clean voter list and the BJP will win the elections. We refer to the three regions here as Anga, Banga and Kalinga. We have won in Kalinga ( Odisha) and Anga (Bihar) and our next victory will be in Banga (Bengal),” he said.
The BJP leader said that Trinamool Congress may try to put the blame on Congress for the defeat, but the defeat is of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the leaders of the party have a personal connection with Mamata Banerjee.
Celebrations were held outside the WB BJP State headquarters at 6 Muralidhar Sen Lane in Kolkata where party supporters had gathered. State BJP president Samik Bhattacharya also echoed similar sentiments.
“This massive wave of public support from Bihar will reach West Bengal as well. The people of Bengal want change. The people of Bengal want to be free from the curse of grassroots politics and want development and employment. Bengal wants to be the best in India again. And that is only possible by holding the hand of BJP in the 2026 election,” Mt. Bhattacharya posted on social media.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leadership said that West Bengal and Bihar are not the same and Mamata Banerjee will return to power for the fourth time in 2026 Assembly polls.
TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh in a social media post said that Bihar poll results also showed again that the Congress failed in its opposition to BJP. “That is Bihar’s equation. It has no connection with Bengal. It will not affect Bengal. In Bengal, the factors are development, unity, harmony, rights, and self-respect. With 250+ seats, Mamata Banerjee will become chief minister again,” Mr. Ghosh said.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress leadership targeted Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh, accusing him of criticising Bengal’s democratically elected government, chosen by the will of the people, as a “Bangladeshi ki Sarkaar” and “Rohingya ki Sarkaar.” This is nothing short of a vile slur, painting every Bengali as a foreign intruder,” the party said on social media.
