One more body was recovered from the Kalladi debris slip site in Wayanad on Friday (July 10, 2026), taking the death toll in the disaster to seven so far.

The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Guchait, a surveyor from East Midnapore in West Bengal.

Agriculture Minister T. Siddique said that his family had identified the body and it was shifted to the Vythiri Taluk Hospital for a post-mortem examination. After the post-mortem examination, the body will be shifted to the Kozhikode Government Medical College for embalming and repatriation to his native place.

Mr. Siddique said the body was recovered from downstream of the Meenakshi river.

The debris slip occurred near the entrance of the under-construction Wayanad tunnel road project on Tuesday (July 7, 2026). Officials said the search and rescue operations had entered their final phase, with only one person still reported missing.

The Minister identified the missing person as project manager Vikram Rana.
