Minister for Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Tamils Welfare S.M. Nasar on Saturday (September 27, 2025) said that the Waqf Board would not be reconstituted in Tamil Nadu until a final judgment is pronounced in the pending cases challenging the Waqf (Amendment) Act of 2025.

In a statement, he said the DMK and various others had challenged the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, before the Supreme Court, which then passed an interim order on September 15.

In its interim order, the Supreme Court stayed certain provisions of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, while upholding the Act.

Mr. Nasar assured that the Waqf Board would not be reconstituted in Tamil Nadu as per the amended Act, which he claimed was hastily implemented by the Centre, until the Supreme Court pronounces its final verdict.
