Trinamool Congresss (TMC) general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday (January 24, 2026) asked party MPs and lawmakers to wake up from hibernation and activate the party war rooms on Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Addressing Trinamool Congress rank and file virtually the Diamond Harbour MP said work related to SIR is not being held properly in some areas

“You don’t have to go to Delhi now. Go on the day of the Union Budget (February 1, 2026). Stay in the area for the rest of the day. Activate the war room. If necessary, the MPs will have to do this work by spending their own money. We don’t take 50% of your salary like other parties. Get out of hibernation,” Mr. Banerjee said during the virtual meeting.

The Trinamool leader said that in areas where there are no Lok Sabha MPs are not present, Rajya Sabha MPs will be sent to those areas. During his hour-long virtual address Mr. Banerjee said the Supreme Court’s interventions in the ongoing SIR was a ‘victory for Trinamool’. “The Supreme Court has accepted everything we said,” he said. The Supreme Court has directed the publication of ward-wise lists of those whose names are in the ‘logical discrepancy’ in the panchayat and municipality.

The Trinamool leader said the work relating to SIR will have to be done by party workers during the day and in the evening, a film highlighting the achievements of Mamata Banerjee’s government will be screened.

The 55-minute- documentary film ‘Lakshmi Elo Ghore’, directed by filmmaker and Barrackpore Trinamool MLA Raj Chakraborty, weaves a fictional but politically charged narrative around a young widow in rural West Bengal. Mr. Banerjee also added ‘Unnayaner Panchali’ , a document highlighting the 15-year history of Mamata Banerjee government, which also needs to be highlighted along with SIR work.

On Sunday (January 25, 2026) which is observed as National Voters’ Day, the Trinamool Congress will hold protests in every block of the State to protest harassment faced by the people of the State during the ongoing SIRs.
