Residents of Vijilapuram village blocked Vaniyambadi – Jolarpet main road near Vaniyambadi town on Wednesday, demanding the relocation of a Tasmac outlet.

Residents said the village had a Tasmac outlet for many years, which resulted in public inconvenience every day. “The Vaniyambadi main road is a key stretch that connects big towns nearby. Such an outlet will result in traffic congestion, accidents, and inconvenience for road users,” said T. Ramu, a resident.

Revenue officials and the police reached the spot and pacified the residents, who dispersed after assurance from revenue officials that the relocation of the outlet will be done soon.

Tasmac officials said that the outlet in the village will be closed after identifying an alternative location.
