A decade after the sensational blockbuster Premam (2015), the actor-director duo of Nivin Pauly and Alphonse Puthren is back. Vijayam, announced on Saturday (June 27, 2026), marks the third collaboration of Pauly and Puthren, after Neram (2013)and Premam.
Vijayam, produced by Tonson Tony, Sunil Ramady, and Pauly, under the banner of Pauly Jr Films, is the actor’s 50th film.
The makers unveiled a teaser to announce the project. In the teaser, the actor is seen riding a dirt bike in a rider’s attire. The video also features Puthren. Pauly asks him what he’s up to, to which he says he is shooting insects and a few creatures — a nod to criticisms against Alphonse’s last directorial, Gold (2022), starring Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Pauly and Puthren have collaborated on some of the most pathbreaking films in Malayalam. Alphonse’s debut, Neram (2013), a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual film, was hailed for its fresh storytelling. Premam (2015) has a cult status among Malayalam cinema fans across the globe.
Pauly was last seen in B Unnikrishnan’s political drama, Prathichaya, which received a lukewarm response at the box office. Following a string of box-office failures, the actor staged a comeback with Sarvam Maya, which crossed the ₹100-crore mark. He recently wrapped up the shoot for Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, directed by Girish AD, costarring Mamitha Baiju. The film is slated to release during Onam 2026. He is also starring in Bakkiyaraj Kannan’s Benz, which is part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe.
Puthren was recently seen in cameo roles in Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros and Sarvam Maya.
