Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has resigned as member elected from Tiruchi East constituency to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
Mr. Vijay’s Cabinet colleagues K.A. Sengottaiyan and P. Venkataramanan handed over his resignation to Principal Secretary of the Legislative Assembly K. Srinivasan on Sunday (May 10, 2026), an official communication said.
During the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Mr. Vijay was elected from Perambur and Tiruchi East constituencies to the Assembly. The resignation will necessitate a bypoll to Tiruchi East constituency.
