Vice Admiral K. Srinivas, Director General, Naval Projects, Visakhapatnam, has been conferred the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) by the President of India in recognition of his distinguished service of an exceptional order to the nation.

The honour was presented at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Ati Vishisht Seva Medal is one of India’s highest peacetime military decorations and is awarded for distinguished service of an exceptional order.

A native of Nimmakuru in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district, Vice Admiral Srinivas assumed charge as Director General, Naval Projects, Visakhapatnam, on November 1, 2025 after serving as the Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam.

Commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1990, he is an alumnus of Sainik School, Korukonda, and the National Defence Academy. During a career spanning more than 35 years, he has held several operational, technical and strategic appointments.

His sea service includes appointments on board the erstwhile aircraft carrier INS Viraat. He also served as Warship Production Superintendent at Severodvinsk in Russia, where he supervised the repair and re-equipping of INS Vikramaditya. Before taking charge as Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam, he served as Commanding Officer of INS Shivaji and later as Assistant Chief of Materiel (Dockyards and Refit).

Vice Admiral Srinivas is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the erstwhile Naval War College at Karanja and the National Defence College in New Delhi.

According to the Indian Navy, the award recognises his contributions to strengthening the Navy’s operational capabilities and enhancing the country’s defence preparedness through his leadership, technical expertise and strategic vision.
